There's nothing special or unique about this particular watch which I bought during my first trip to Japan back in 2008, except that it runs on solar energy.
If I'm correct, this Lilana range from Casio is not available in Singapore.
Before buying the watch I checked with the staff if the watch can work outside Japan as the watch can self-adjust according to the radio frequency of the location. I decided to take a gamble & went ahead to buy the watch even though the instruction manual is in Japanese because I think my basic Japanese coupled with the illustrations should get me through. Moreover, I thought the price of about $120 was quite reasonable for a solar watch which can last a pretty long time, maybe forever.
I didn't wear the watch for almost 2 years until March this year because I was unable to set the time to Singapore time, so all the while the watch was running on "Japan Hour". When I went for my second trip to Japan this year, I decided to bring this watch along so I can get someone in Japan to help me adjust it to Singapore time. The irony was, I actually managed to set the time myself while fiddling with it while on the flight to Tokyo. Frankly, I didn't know what I did differently this time compared to my previous attempts but I'm glad that I can finally wear the watch.
The other great thing about the watch is that it is self-adjusting. Even when the energy run out, it'll always tune up to the right time after a boost of solar energy. I would love it more if it comes with date-just.
