311 of Project 365: Dragonfly 2

Dragonfly must be one of the most common insects because I see them in most of the parks in Singapore.
Here's the first post I did featuring the same yellow dragonfly at Hort Park. This time round, I managed to get a closer shot where I can see the fine hairs on the belly & back and the spike on the head. I guess this is the best I can do with my prime lens at 4x zoom.
Sigh, at times like this, I wish I have a more powerful camera.

306 of Project 365: 45-65: Liberation, Unrest... a New Nation

I can't help but take a picture of this printed silk screen which is part of the "45-65: Liberation, Unrest ... A New Nation" exhibition at the National Museum of Singapore.

Frankly, I quite enjoyed this exhibition which is both nostalgia & unfamiliar at the same time. Nostalgia because there are some artefacts on display which I can recognized but unfamiliar because some it was an era which I wasn't born yet.

Besides the numerous printed silk screens and artefacts, there is also a black & white film screening of early Singapore. I noticed that there are numerous headphones around which I believe provide oral narration of Singapore's history. There are many seats provided, so you can really take your time to sit down & enjoy the exhibition. The best thing is admission is FREE. Can't beat that!

The Last Kampong in Singapore

En route back to Sengkang Riverside Park, we stopped briefly at one of the houses belonging to a friendly Malay family, who allow us to roam around the compound & take a look at their mini oasis.

My Waterway @ Punggol

This place is so out-of-the-way for me that i wouldn't have come all the way here if my sis wasn't driving.
Purpose of going to My Waterway @ Punggol was to fly kite :) Of course, as usual, I'm taking pictures.

Berlayer Creek & Labrador Nature & Coastal Walk

I was looking forward to a day of fun sighting exotic fauna & flora but was disappointed because after walking for less than 15 mins, my mom & I realised that the variety of plants are the same few along the boarded walk.

I was half expecting that we would be the lone visitors but was pleasantly surprised by the number of people along the way especially as we get closer to Reflections @ Keppel Bay.

Sentosa Flowers Festival 2012

This is my second consecutive year visiting the Sentosa Flowers Festival...
As usual, the place was swarmed by more tourists than locals. This year's festival is a bit of a letdown in terms of the variety & quantities of flowers. Nonetheless, it's still a great opportunity to bring out my camera & work off those calories that I've piled on during the festive seasons.
