First Stop: Mount Takao (Takaosan)
Map detailing the different routes to reach the peak of Mount Takao.
Cable car to take visitors to mid level of Mount Takao.
Charcoal grilled sesame mochi coated with soya sauce.
I believe these wooden planks borned the name of devotees who had make donations to the shrines at Mount Takao.
Second Stop: Rikugien
Ticket for admission: Yen 300
This weeping cherry blossom tree was the main attraction in the garden. A sign outside the entrance announced that the cherry blossom was in full bloom.
One has to pay Yen 500 to sit inside the traditional Japanese house.
Enjoying the cherry blossom with the beautiful sunset as backdrop.
Look at the horde of people crowding around the cherry blossom tree. Many must have come because 31 Mar 2010 was supposedly the last day for night time Hanami. However, the date was actually extended to 4 Apr 2010.
It was almost dark by the time we left Rikugien but there was still a long line of people waiting to go in. Just goes to show how much the Japanese love and enjoy the annual cherry blossom season.
