Barcook Bakery

Finally decided to give this bakery a try as the queue was quite short & I didn't have to wait long before I get these.

Mashed Potato Nacho ($1.40): My preferred choice.

Raisin Cream Cheese ($1.30): I find this to cheesy & heavy to eat a whole piece and I'm not a fan of raisin. Best consumed while it's still hot.

Wildlife

We spotted this little creature by the side of the path.
Not sure if it's part of the zoo's collection or part of the wildlife.

Komodo Dragon

The komodo dragon is listed as "Vulnerable (IUCN 3.1)" on the Conservation Status.
Overfeeding of the komodo dragon will cause its tail to grow fat, and we know that "fat-tail risk" is not desirable.

Orang Utan Feeding Time

The orang utans were so used to the routine that they seemed to know that feeding was going to start. Actually it was more of a photo taking session. The price is $5 per person not per picture. I saw a tourist donating EUR10 but the staff asked him to drop the money at the donation box near the entrance.

I don't know why but I just find this picture amusing.
The mynah looking on while the zebras are feeding.

Woodlands Waterfront

A little compensation after the disaapointment at Admiralty Park.

Admiralty Park

The trip to Admiralty Park didn't start off on the right note. I've researched online that SMRT bus no. 911 is one of the buses that can bring me to the park, however things didn't worked out as planned.
I didn't bother confirming with the bus driver before boarding the bus at Woodlands Regional Bus Interchange as I trust the info online to be correct. Upon reaching Woodlands Centre I thought the orientation was different and decided to check with the bus driver who told me that bus 911 doesn't go to Admiralty Park. Either the info online is incorrect or the bus driver is not familiar about the places along the route.
Since that's the case, we decided to alight and took a cab to Admiralty Park West Entrance (where Sakura International Buffet Restaurant is located), costing us $4.00.
The second surprise was when we reached the park which was deserted and held none of the excitement mentioned in the online eGuide. The lack of proper map & signs meant that we actually had to walk to the campus of Repblic Polytechnic before we managed to get our bearing and eventually head to the right direction.
Even then, the almost 3000m trek through the gravel path is anything but exciting.

Republic Polytechnic

We were actually on our way to Admiralty Park but kind of get lost and ended up at the campus of Republic Polytechnic. Eventually, we managed to get our bearing from a campus map, after a short break, we continued our way to Admiralty Park.

Partial lunar eclipse on 26 June 2010
I managed to capture the little that was remaining of the lunar eclipse around 8.45pm, which was fast disappearing.
Looking forward to the full eclispe on 21 December 2010, but not sure if we can see it in Singapore.

100 of Project 365: Hoegaarden

I came to know about this Belgium beer more than 10 years ago from a pub by the name of Monkey Bar at Riverside Walk. It's a very light and easy to drink beer which might mislead the drinker to overindulge unknowingly.

Starbucks

My favourite caffeinated drink is the iced grande latte. My sis taught me a trick to save money - order an iced coffee and add milk from the serving counter. Of course, the taste of the coffee isn't the same but when times are bad & every cents count, this is one way to satisfy myself.

98 of Project 365: Pink Rain Lily

You can see this flower planted in most public areas.
My sis also planted this in her garden, but the flower is white in colour. But most of the time, people either thought it was spring onion or wild grass because hers had more grass than flower : )

Lunch @ Kamado

Today, I had lunch at Kamado, 313 @ Somerset with my colleague & ex-colleague.
Yes, I ordered tonkatsu again. Me & my affair with pork cutlet. But this is slightly different because this is layered pork. The food is decent, nothing to wow about. The rice is good but my lunch companions think that the beef & grilled pork are a bit tough but the taste is good.

Chinese Garden Part II & Japanese Garden

This was my second visit to Chinese Garden within a short span of about a month from my last visit because I didn't manage to cover the entire place on my first visit due to adverse weather condition.

Labrador Park Walkabout

My first visit to Labrador Park was during my JC days when the SAJC campus was still at Mandalay Road, where we walked all the way from.
Now, there is a bus service operated by SBS which drops visitors directly at Labrador Park, sparing us the long way. It is quite a distant to walk from the main road, at least 15 to 20 mins, so Parks 408 is the most convenient way to Labrador Park.

儿时玩意儿

很惊讶在我家门外的走廊看到这个好久不见的儿时玩意儿。
让我回想起小学时很多快乐的时光。
更让我意想不到的是,邻居的小孩也会这游戏。因为我的邻居是缅甸人。

97 of Project 365:
