40 Hands (Forty Hands)

After our walkabout around Tiong Bahru, we finally found 40 Hands (78 Yong Siak Street) to take a break from our walk & the sweltering heat. The cafe was pretty cramped & the indoor air-con sitting area was almost full, so we decided to sit at the non air-con backyard.

The menu is pretty limited and the variety of cakes & pastries is also not very interesting. As we were a bit hungry after our walk, I decided to go for the one of the all-day breakfast items.

Recycled milk tin to hold the sugar. The brown paper bag holds the napkins. The wooden block for our orders.

Cappuccino for my mom. The froth filled all the way to the brim and I was amazed that the staff managed to bring this cuppa to our table without spilling a single drop. Can you imagine navigating a flight of stairs without spilling this? The froth was so thick & creamy that it stayed that way for a long time without going flat.

The cafe served all day breakfast. We had the Fat Boy Breakfast as recommended by the staff. I love the sausages, which were skinnier than the usual bratwurst, but it tasted heavenly, with a hint of spiciness and smokey taste. But I find it a bit pricey at $18.

Quite uncommon to find beer being served at cafe.
